I was previously employed by Cobham Aviation for almost 9 years and was the most Senior First Officer in the company flying the Falcon 20 in Air Warfare Defense Training. I have approximately 3000 hours with this type of military flying alone.
As the most Senior First Officer within the company I planned, led and deconflicted various sorties. Ranging from single aircraft to a mix of assets, including jets and helicopters, within the same operating environment. I was required to assemble all the relevant data then prepare and deliver a mission brief for the sortie for the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and NATO missions.
In a training role I utilized my qualification as an EASA CRM Instructor to run courses, was an approved auditor of training records and CAA auditor representative, and updated operation manuals accordingly with the move from JAR to EASA with the companies’ AOC.
In 2015 I opted to move from Cobham Aviation to Cathay Pacific Airways in a bid to progress my career. I started on multiple variants of the Boeing 747-400’s, as well as the newer 747-8F, with Long Haul routes to the U.S, Middle East and Europe.
I moved to the Airbus A330-300 flying regional and long haul routes, then on to the Airbus A350 again mainly flying dedicated ultra long range.
Since I have moved to British Airways as of May 2019 and this time moved to the Boeing 777 operating from the Far East to US and Africa.
I have always been proactive and have engaged in various ways of assisting the operations for line crews in all companies to help make it run smoother. For example: I have completed an iOS application for the 747 & 777 fleet at Cathay Pacific, created in my own time and at no extra cost to the company. This has now expanded into the airbus fleet since my fleet transfer and incorporated a safety aspect in complex fuel calculations including QRH procedures where the situations could cause mistakes. As well as the flight deck crew workload being made easier, this has also highlighted potential fuel savings for the company that has been overlooked and now acknowledged. The application ended up with the some of the pilot managers of Cathay Pacific for review, including the Manager Flight Operations of Risk as I left.
For British Airways I have created a full landing distance program for the Boeing 777 (which has been completed) and an EFB which was pending a meeting with management after current COVID-19 issues, however since I have been made redundant.
I feel I can offer my skill set with a unique civilian pilot background with many years of Cobham training, working within military environments and deployments, as well as many years of commitment whilst having worked for two major long haul legacy airlines on a variety of heavy jets, both the latest Boeing and Airbus as well as creating bespoke software to enhance safety and efficiency.
